Thank God -> Elf Classic Running Festival — From Paul Lee
Saturday, December 14th, 2013Dear wife, sister Agnes, and all others,
Praise our Lord. I am over 50, yet I made the 5K (3.1 miles) run in 40 minutes and 9 second this morning. I didn’t think I will make it. I prayed three times, while I was in the race.
As soon as the run got started, I ran the first 100 feet, and I needed 10 seconds walk already. I prayed this run is for the glory of God. Less than half way of the run, I took a cup of water and walked about 15 seconds. I prayed to Him for the second time. Please provide me the lasting energy to finish the race. After crossing the 2.0 miles mark, I thanked God for the pace and breathing synchronization. However, my fear came after 2.5 miles because I kept on running but not seeing the finish line. I prayed for the third time, and the run is for our Loving God. I picked up some speed when I saw the finish line. Sigh! I did with Him.
I run was moderate difficult because I had less than a month of training, and I prepared the run up to 1.5 miles as the max distance. The elder who is 65 finished the timing in 32 minutes for his third 5K. He said my first run was not bad at all but need to pickup the speed next time.
The run is not for everyone, but I strongly encourage all to start walking the first two weeks with an hour long for three times per week. Then alternate between walking and jogging for two months. If I can do it, you can do it better
God Bless,
Paul
